Penny Parrock Fisheries
Penny Parrock has 5 fisheries, 3 on the Duddon, one on the Crake and one on the Kent. New for 2006, our Kent fishery has been extended by a reciprocal rights arrangement with Burneyside AC. Access the details via the sub-menu on the left.
These are all relatively short rivers, flowing off the Cumbrian Fells and south into Morecambe Bay. The Crake being a lake fed river (Coniston Water) has completely different flow characteristics to the other two.
Sea trout can be taken between May and September, with July and August being the prime months.
Salmon can be taken between August and October, with September offering the best chance of a good fresh run fish. Catches are highly dependant on rain and satisfactory water levels.
Good fishing conditions tend to be transitory (some might say illusive!), and most fish are taken by anglers who make it their business to be on the water when conditions are right.
All legal methods of fishing can be employed.
